Ticket to Ride with the Beatles in Liverpool

Submerging myself in the world of the Beatles on this weekend’s trip to Liverpool was probably the most sheer fun of any outing I’ve had so far.

If I’d had more than just a few more hours in Liverpool, I would have loved to get a taste of the dozen impressive museums in Liverpool, or take the full Beatles tour around the city, but I spent my scant time well at the Beatles Experience at Albert Dock.

After queueing up in drizzling rain (which was actually good fun, because Beatles songs were playing while we waited), I got to go through the Beatles Story, a complete history of The Beatles with replicas of all the famous sites, from the Casbah and the Cavern Club to a bar in Hamburg, the inside of the Yellow Submarine, and pictures of iconic moments like Abbey Road.

And, of course, Beatles music was playing everywhere. It was really cool, and I can hardly think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
